FACES Conferences

What is FACES Conferences' Mission?

Our mission is to bring Mindfulness practices, meditation practices and, dharma (Buddhist teachings) to the counseling field.

We are honored to bring the best Mindfulness speakers to our conferences in settings that promote learning and renewal to the counseling field.


Who Attends FACES Conferences?

Our conferences are attended by psychologists, social workers, counselors, nurses, mental health practitioners, and alcohol/drug counselors. Individuals in allied professions or those interested in mindfulness are also encouraged to attend.


How Long Has FACES Conferences Been Putting on Conferences?

We have been putting on mental health conferences for over 20 years. We began with Dual Disorders conferences (psychiatric and substance abuse disorders) in the late 1980s. At that time our mission was to provide training in dual disorders, family, addiction treatment and recovery, trauma, affective and anxiety disorders. Our name FACES stood for Family and Addiction Conferences and Educational Seminars.


Why is FACES Conferences Focusing on Mindfulness Conferences?

We see mindfulness as a significant contribution to the counseling field. Both scientific evidence and clinical work has found mindfulness as extremely beneficially for both physical and mental well-being. More and more counselors & therapists are learning about mindfulness, incorporating it in both their counseling practices and personal lives.

We focus on West Coast conferences. We have the following conferences scheduled for 2010-2011.

How many Continuing Education Credits can I earn attending a FACES Conference?

Each full conference day you attend is worth 6 Continuing Education credits. For example you would earn 18 Continuing Education credits attending an entire 3-day conference.


With which agencies is FACES Conferences accredited for Continuing Education credits?

FACES Conferences is one of the leading providers of Mental Health Continuing Education (CE) conferences and retreats. Since 1986 FACES has been providing high quality, innovative mental health conferences for social workers, psychologists, mental health professionals and drug/alcohol counselors.

FACES is proud to offer Continuing Education Credit to mental health professionals, and is accredited with the following agencies:

  • APA — FACES Conferences is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. FACES Conferences maintains responsibility for this program and its content. APA meets requirements for MCEP/CA psychologists. Provider #1407.
  • CA Board of Behavioral Sciences — FACES Conferences courses meet the qualifications for continuing education credit for MFT's and/or LCSW's as required by the California Board of Behavioral Science. PCE 1685.
  • CA Board of Nursing — FACES Conferences is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 13184 for contact hours.
  • CAADE — FACES Conferences is approved to provide continuing education for the California Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators, #CP20 868 C 0312.
  • CFAAP/CAADAC — FACES Conferences is approved by CFAAP/CAADAC, Provider Number OS-99-432-1211 for CDH's.
  • NAADAC — FACES Conferences has been approved by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors Continuing Education Hours. Provider #000281.
  • NASW — FACES Conferences programs are approved by the National Association of Social Workers, Provider #8864 0445 2 for continuing education contact hours.
  • NBCC — FACES Conferences is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP™) and may offer NBCC approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. #5717.
  • WMHCA — FACES Conferences has been approved by the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association for WA licensed Mental Health Counselors, licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and licensed Social Workers. WMHCA Provider #405.

FACES Conferences is available for AMA PRA Category 2 credit only at this time.
